About the program

What is Eating Together?

Nutritious meals in a friendly, social atmosphere, plus the chance to explore new interests, make new friends, and attend educational events.

About the program

Eating Together is a federally funded congregate nutrition program established under the Older Americans Act in 1972. Its goal is to promote health, reduce isolation, and provide a nutritious meal in a shared dining setting for Baltimore City seniors.

Who is eligible?

Seniors 60 years of age or older, and their spouses regardless of age, can take part in Eating Together.

People younger than 60 may also join if they live in a building where an Eating Together meal program operates.

How does the program work?

Eligible participants register by completing a registration form. Everyone receives a membership card to swipe each time they attend a meal.

Menus are posted monthly so participants can reserve a meal on the days they plan to attend. Sites across Baltimore City serve lunch or dinner, and some offer Kosher and Korean meals.

What does a meal cost?

There is no fee to join and no charge for the meal. Participants may make a confidential donation toward the cost of their meal.

$2.00Suggested donation, regular meal
$2.00Suggested donation, kosher meal

Donations are always optional. They help pay for meals and let more seniors take part.

What are the benefits?

Participants enjoy nutritious meals in a social setting and can join in activities. Each time you swipe your membership card, it helps show the agencies that fund the program how valuable this service is to seniors in Baltimore City.
